Project 365: Day 99 (Canvas and Cocktails!)

Canvas and Cocktails!!!
One of the best business ideas ever and a hell of a good time! This morning, in celebration of Bethany's birthday, a group of us went to Canvas and Cocktails in Cherry Creek to paint. We showed up at 10am for a mimosa painting class and for $35 we were provided with all supplies - including the canvas - and one mimosa to get us started.  The walls of the studio are covered with all of the different paintings that they do at Canvas and Cocktails and you can check the website before you reserve a spot in a class to choose a day when they're teaching something you like.
Our instructor was Dre. She began by energetically teaching us about our brushes and encouraging us to let all of our stresses go and just have fun.
You can see on the right there is a picture hung on the wall, this was the painting that Dre was teaching us to create and she took us step-by-step through the whole thing, teaching us everything from how to mix our paints to which brush to use, and when to take a break and walk away.
She was great. For each step she would give us verbal instructions, demo the techniques, and then bump the music while she did it herself and gave us time to work on our own art.
The play list included hits from such greats as Pat Benetar, Tina Turner, Gyote, and my favorite Michael Jackson - Man in the Mirror!!! It was great to see so many people working on the same exact painting and all coming out with unique works of art.
The place was packed with mostly women - many just like us celebrating birthdays, bachelorette parties, graduation - the mood was festive.
We absolutely had a blast! I will definitely be participating in some more classes in the future. Yay for fun Saturdays!!
